Nine Dot Solutions makes use of Bulk Flow Analyst Discrete Element Method (DEM) software to evaluate material flow through existing and new bulk material handling designs. The software allows one to visualise material flow, particle speeds, and possible blockages. The software has been used to verify flow in various bucket wheel designs, tippler operation and chute flow.
Discrete Element Modelling software is also used to determine whether a material flow component can be used at increased capacities and throughput, or what changes must be made during a capacity upgrade. Used in conjunction with stress evaluation techniques, this allows for a large scale capacity upgrade inspection and implementation.
